FIELD: medical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: device has anode, cathode and power supply source electrically connected to the anode and cathode. The cathode has cathode electrode and cathode reservoir. The reservoir has body manufactured from polymer material and aqueous medium contacting to the device body. The aqueous medium contains drug or electrolyte salt or their mixture and a cetyl pyridinium salt in the amount enough for inhibiting microorganism growth in the aqueous medium. The polymer material is compatible with the cetyl pyridinium salt. Transfer method involves delivering drug to patient in transcutaneous way from anode solution by means of transcutaneous diffusion when feeding with electric current from the power supply source with no transcutaneous delivery of the cetyl pyridinium salt takes place from the cathode reservoir.
EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of drug delivery in electrically charged or uncharged form or as a mixture of charged and uncharged molecules; prevented cetyl pyridinium salt absorption with polymer material of device body; long storage life.
