FIELD: production of metal cord reinforced articles.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus has supporting structure, rotor connected to supporting structure and adapted for rotation around predetermined axis of rotation, cradle attached to supporting structure along rocking axis coinciding with axis of rotation of rotor, and feeding devices mounted in operating position on cradle and adapted for feeding single metal threads from respective feeding bobbins. Single metal threads are fed to rotor along twisting path with end portions coinciding with axis of rotation of rotor and central portion spaced from axis of rotation of rotor. Apparatus is further provided with at least one preliminary deforming device, which is connected in its operating position to cradle and adapted for acting upon at least one of single metal threads at its part arranged before first end portion of twisting path in the course of advancement of metal thread, and at least one preliminary deforming device adapted for deforming of single metal thread in such a manner that it acquires substantially sinusoidal shape when put onto flat surface. Method involves stages of deforming of at least one single metal thread in a manner providing residual deformation of substantially sinusoidal shape upon putting said single metal thread onto flat surface; twisting single metal threads together by double twisting process in helical line around cord longitudinal axis.
EFFECT: increased efficiency and improved strength of metal cord.
