FIELD: reinforcement for elastomeric products. SUBSTANCE: metal cord has reinforcing members, each twisted at predetermined pitch. Projection on plane perpendicular to longitudinal central axis of metal cord of each reinforcing member is curved, with radius of curvature varying from maximum to minimum value. Curved line is extending lengthwise through at least one twisting pitch. Curved line of at least one reinforcing member is made convex. Microspaces defined between curved reinforcing members and adjoining reinforcing members serve to receive rubber, which may penetrate into them. Method for manufacture of metal cord having at least one reinforcing member involves bending at least one reinforcing member, whose definite curved line has curvature radius varying between maximum and minimum values; putting this member together with other members so that distance between two minimum curvature radii of mentioned predetermined curved line measured along longitudinal central axis is different from half the pitch of reinforcing member, or predetermined curved line is different from curves circumscribed by other members.
