SUBSTANCE: physical channels have data channels and control channels. Data channels have primary channels used to transfer voice traffic, data traffic, high-speed data, and miscellaneous additional service information, as well as secondary channels used to transfer high-speed data. When remote stations are in inadequate state, primary channels may be relinquished. Control channels are used for page, control message, and dispatching information transmission.

EFFECT: enhanced utilization of channel capacity.
