FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: electromagnetic clutch has a housing with a coil and a friction unit. The friction unit has a stack of the flat magnetically conducting and flexible wavy disks including two axially arranged ring members interconnected with radial pieces. Each disk is made of a sine-like wave in the along-periphery direction. The number of waves on the inner and outer ring members is n1 and n2, respectively, with n1≠ n2. The radii of the waves are and
, respectively, where x1 and x2 are the wavelengths over the periphery of the mean diameters of the ring members D1 and D2, and a1 and a2 are the heights of the wave measured from the axial plane of the disk. The amplitude of the waves in the radial direction is constant throughout the width of the ring members.
EFFECT: reduced coupling time.
