FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy; production of nickel matte in shaft furnaces.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes drying of ore, sifting-out coarse fraction, mixing the fine fraction of ore with sulfidizing agent and briquetting. After drying of ore to residual moisture content lesser than 7%, oxidized nickel ore is separated into fractions of +2 mm and -2 mm; coarse fraction is selectively ground and separated by pneumatic classification into light fraction at density lesser than 2.7 g/cu cm and heavy fraction at density exceeding 2.7 g/cu cm which is removed from charge; light fraction of -2 mm are mixed and coke fines are introduced additionally into charge before briquetting.
EFFECT: reduced specific consumption of coke in melting the briquettes of oxidized nickel ore.
