FIELD: metallurgy; alloying of steels and alloys by complex master alloy containing magnesium, titanium and niobium.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes melting of materials, mixing of alloy and pouring it to ingots. Reduction of titanium and niobium from their chloride is performed at temperature of 600-720 C in crucible filled with liquid magnesium whose amount exceeds stoichiometric amount required for reduction of titanium and niobium by 1.5 times; melt is mixed after reduction reaction and salt is drained; thus master alloy containing 15-85% of niobium. 15-40% of titanium and 5-50% of magnesium is obtained.
EFFECT: enhanced strength characteristics of alloy.
