FIELD: metallurgy; alloying steels and alloys.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes introduction of potassium fluoro-zirconate in potassium and sodium chloride melt at melting point of 600-700 C, introduction of rare-metal chloride for conducting exchange reaction between fluoro-zirconate and rare-earth metal chloride. Then, portion of magnesium is fed and salts are poured out in 15-30 min and second portion of magnesium is introduced into master alloy thus obtained in the amount sufficient for obtaining 1.5-35 % of zirconium, 3.5-35 % of rare-earth metals with the remainder being magnesium.
EFFECT: increased degree of extraction of zirconium from potassium fluoro-zirconate.
