FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy of non-ferrous metals, particularly to production of magnesium ligatures with neodymium, which can be used as alloying and modifying additives in production of alloys based on magnesium and aluminum, as well as alloying additives in production of iron and steel. Method involves adding a mixture of neodymium fluoride and flux to liquid magnesium. Flux used is a mixture of potassium chloride, sodium chloride, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride and calcium fluoride. Produced mixture is melted and mixed at rate from 150 to 350 rpm at temperature from 710 to 770 °C and holding time of 20 to 40 minutes with complete exchange reaction of molten salts and magnesium to obtain ligature. One performs settling, after which the obtained ligature is poured into molds, and the remaining salt mixture is sent for repeated remelting.

EFFECT: increased degree of neodymium extraction into magnesium ligature.
