FIELD: manufacture of honeycomb members of thin steel sheets resistant to high temperature corrosion, for example in systems for discharging exhaust gases of transport vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of making honeycomb member by forming pack and(or) twisting to coil chrome- and aluminum containing steel sheets part of which is profiled for defining flow-through ducts for fluid. Rolling lubricant applied onto sheet surface has such content and (or) such additives that it provides formation of carbon-enriched layer on steel sheet surface at heating. Honeycomb member is placed in tubular casing and adjacent sheets are mutually joined by heat treatment, mainly by annealing. Heating is realized until temperature more than 1100 C at mean rate equal at least to 25 C/min and then they are again cooled at the same rate. Before heat treatment it is possible to release inner stresses in separate zones of honeycomb member due to multiple squeezing or hammer forging of it.
EFFECT: possibility for making honeycomb member without solder, shortened production cycle, enhanced quality of joints due to quick heating until desired temperature.
