FIELD: manufacture of cellular members used, as a rule, as casings - carriers of catalytic neutralizers. SUBSTANCE: metal sheets are stacked and/or rolled up. At least one part of metal sheets is made of initially multilayer material, which includes at least one layer of steel containing chromium and at least one layer containing mainly aluminium, which at a subsequent thermal treatment are considerably homogenized due to diffusion. At least part of the metal sheets has a structure increasing the elasticity of the cellular member before and during thermal treatment. The cellular member is inserted in a tubular housing with such a preliminary compression at which at thermal treatment a permanent fitting of sheets to one another in the points of their contact is ensured. Due to additional microstructures, the total area of the points of contact between sheets is reduced on one part of metal sheets. The additional microstructure may be a structure passing crosswise or at an angle to the direction of ducts, or a structure passing mainly in the direction of ducts. The metal sheets are engaged due to mutual engagement with geometric locking of structures of the adjacent sheets. For the tubular housing use is made of material with a lower coefficient of thermal expansion as compared with the material of the cellular member. EFFECT: manufacture of more perfect, cheaper cellular members capable of taking-up of high mechanical load with a high resistance to corrosion. 8 cl, 5 dwg
