FIELD: biotechnology, preparative biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method for isolation and purification of HMG-CoA-reductase inhibitor that involves clearing nutrient medium with mycelium, concentrating cleared broth, acidification of concentrate to pH in the range 4.5-7.5 followed by extraction of HMG-CoA-reductase inhibitor with ethyl acetate. Crystallization of the isolated HMG-CoA-reductase inhibitor from water-mixing or water-soluble organic solvent and crystallization of HMG-CoA-reductase inhibitor from an organic solvent with limited mixing with water or dissolving in water. The sequence of crystallization stages can be altered. The combination of specific stages is used for purification of the crude HMG-CoA-reductase inhibitor with purity above 99.6%. Invention provides high purity of the end product that exceeds 99.6%.
