FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: disks are mounted on the spindle at an acute angle to the plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The height of the disk should be less than the width of the groove to be cut. The value of the angle is defined by a formula and is a function of height and outer diameter of the disk, width of the groove, and inclination of the disk. When grinding a groove in the round blank, the blank and cutoff disk are set in rotation and transverse motion. When grinding a groove in the flat blank, it is set in reciprocation along the groove and transverse motion, and the cutoff disk is set in rotation.
EFFECT: enhanced wear resistance of disk.
