SUBSTANCE: method involves forming on forming mandrel 1 of crucible bottom carcass from carbon filaments or carbon fabric, with carcass being composed of base 2 and side part 4 having height of 100-400 mm with thickness reducing from base 2; compressing formed crucible bottom carcass with pyrolytic carbon by thermal gradient method at temperature of 900-1,0000C while shifting pyrolysis zone by value equal to thickness of base 2; adding extension 7 to forming mandrel 1 for forming of side part 4 of crucible and simultaneously increasing crucible bottom carcass layers on side part 4 to required thickness, with layers of crucible bottom carcass and side parts being connected at junction boundary 8 by stitching with the use of carbon filament through the entire thickness or in layer-by-layer manner; providing final connection of bottom and side parts by additional compaction of bottom part and compaction of side part by pyrolytic carbon with the use of thermal gradient method in above said mode.
EFFECT: increased service life and enhanced reliability in operation of large-sized crucibles owing to increased mechanical strength and reduced liquid and gas permeability at crucible parts junction sites.
