FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, in particular, melting of cast iron in blast furnaces with the use of water-cooled copper blast tuyeres.
SUBSTANCE: blast tuyere is composed of inner and outer copper sleeves connected at their ends with steel flange and copper shell with protective coating applied onto the entire working surface of copper part of tuyere. First inner layer of protective coating is made from oxides or mixture thereof with admixture of 4±0.2% of titanium dioxide and has thickness of 1-5 mm, and second outer layer of zirconium dioxide has thickness of 0.2 mm. Method involves preparing tuyere surface by abrasive removal of its upper layer and applying underlayer; providing flame spraying process for deposition of 1-mm thick layer of oxides or mixtures thereof with admixture of 4±0.2% of titanium dioxide; increasing its thickness to value of 5 mm; providing flame spraying process for deposition of 0.2 mm thick layer of zirconium dioxide.
EFFECT: increased strength of tuyere.
