SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the attenuated RNA-containing viruses with minus-chain and exhibiting the damaged ability to counteract the cellular interferon-response, and to application of such attenuated viruses in vaccine and pharmaceutical compositions, and to the development and application of interferon-insufficient system for selection of such attenuated viruses. In particular, invention relates to attenuated influenza viruses having modifications relating to the gene NS1 that reduce or eliminate ability of the gene NS1 product to counteract the cellular interferon-response. These mutant viruses are replicated in vivo but demonstrate the reduced pathogenicity and, therefore, they are useful for application in live viral vaccines and pharmaceutical compositions. The advantage of the invention involves the development of preparations based on attenuated viruses that allows providing the immune response that is sufficient for satisfying the following infections.
