FIELD: manufacture of metallic sheets, possibly centering moving steel strip relative to axis of aggregate at cutting strip, heat treatment of it, applying coating onto it and so on.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of transporting strip with tension by means of non-driven rotary roller in direction normal relative to motion direction; turning rotary roller that supports strip by angle proportional to deflection of strip from axis of aggregate and moving roller in such direction that to lower deflection value of lengthwise axis of strip relative to aggregate axis; realizing rotation of roller due to acting upon it with effort created by means of lateral edge of strip mostly spaced from axis of aggregate.

EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of centering strip, enlarged using range of method.
