FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of strip material and may be used for centring moving strip relative to unit axis. Proposed method comprises strip transfer with crosswise displacement performed by idle rolls. Centring is carried out by twisting strip relative to its lengthwise axis in carrying it through gap formed by two idle vertical centring rolls with their axes located in plane perpendicular to unit axis, in section between two pairs of horizontal guide rolls. Strip twisted through 90°. After passing through idle vertical centring rolls, said strip is untwisted in opposite direction. Note here that gap between said rolls is set equal to strip thickness.

EFFECT: ruling out strip edges defects and expanded process performances.
