METHOD FOR MOUNTING MANDREL WITH BLANK ONTO CENTERS AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING THE SAME Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: machine engineering, namely processes and equipment for mounting blanks in centers in circular grinding machine tools and lathes.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of providing engagement of working surfaces of front and rear centers with center openings of mandrels; removing mandrel with blank from centers and out of machine tool after termination of working; mounting mandrel with blank onto centers with gap exceeding value of working gap. Method is realized at using mandrel having passive magnets in its ends and axial limiting member; electromagnetic radial supports mounted in head stock and tail stock of machine tool; electromagnetic axial left and right (having two, front and rear, halves) supports. Then mandrel with blank is raised in radial direction according to signals of radial motion pickups and to orders of system for controlling electromagnetic efforts occurred at engagement of passive electromagnets of magnet with stators of electromagnetic radial supports until achieving coincidence of their symmetry axes with axis of mandrel. Mandrel with blank is hold in such position and simultaneously it is moved in axial direction according to signals of axial motion pickups by means of electromagnetic efforts occurred at engagement of axial limiting member of mandrel with stators of electromagnetic left and right supports until coincidence of their symmetry axes. After termination of working mandrel with blank is descended onto working surfaces of front and rear centers. Before removing mandrel from centers and out of machine tool, front and rear halves of right axial support are shifted from it by rotating them around axis in radial direction; electromagnetic left axial support and electromagnetic radial supports are shifted in axial direction (radial supports are moved in opposite sides). In order to perform such rotation and to return rotary bodies to working position fixation mechanism is used. Invention allows to increase revolution number and to improve accuracy at rotating blank.

EFFECT: enhanced efficiency, enlarged manufacturing possibilities, improved quality of worked surface.
