FIELD: glassmaking.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processes of hardening-mediated thermal strengthening of glass. Process according to invention comprises heating glass to hardening temperature, forced intensive cooling of glass and ageing at ambient temperature under conditions of natural convections of air masses. Forced cooling is provided by air-jet blowing with air pressure 0.1420-0.1894 MPa, which is supplied at velocity 30 to 340 m/s during 10 sec. After ageing during 20 to 180 sec, repeated forced intensive cooling to 20-60оС is performed under the same conditions as above.
EFFECT: increased productivity, strength characteristics, and enabled machining without self-destruction.
