FIELD: manufacture of artificial bound sod.

SUBSTANCE: artificial sod has first covering thread and second textured covering thread, layer, coating applied onto layer for preventing threads from disconnection after prolonged usage of artificial sod, and underlayer. According to other version, artificial sod has first covering thread, second textured covering thread, loop-forming thread, and number of units formed by binding of first covering thread, second covering thread and loop-forming thread with one another, and is further provided with layer formed by laying of thread in straight line, passing it between at least two rows of units and knitting it in for holding said at least two rows of units one aside another, coating and underlayer arranged under layer and adapted for forming stable base for artificial sod. Method involves providing extrusion of granulated material through spinneret for forming of elongated tape; knitting in elongated tape combined with another textured tape and loop-forming thread for forming of units; cutting elongated tape for producing of flat covering thread of 25.4 mm length; forming rows of units from elongated tape, another tape and loop-forming tape; knitting-in of straight laid thread into rows of units.

EFFECT: improved strength and increased service life of artificial sod.
