FIELD: non-destructive control technologies.
SUBSTANCE: control is performed by use of high-frequency high-voltage charge of small power from the source - low-power spark generator of high-frequency impulses, to which metallic base of product is connected as well as hollow electrode-probe. Into hollow electrode-probe probing gas is fed (helium, argon or their mixture). When electrode-probe moves above controlled surface of cover made of dielectric material sample gas, having best penetrating ability and maximum ionization degree comparatively to air, blows around welded connection. When into through defect portion, gas provides for electrical breakdown between metallic base and probe-electrode, by which effect a through defect (leakage) of cover is detected.
EFFECT: possible detection of through defects from 1Ч10-2 mm on dielectric covers up to 10 mm thick, higher effectiveness of determining pressurization level of protective covers on metallic constructions.
