METHOD AND DEVICE FOR TREATING THE CASES OF OPTIC TRACT DISEASES Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2238063 C1

FIELD: medicine; medical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: device has electrode cannula manufactured from metal spiral coated with flexible electric insulation material and having metal end piece. Method involves introducing mandrin with holder in performing puncture implantation. The holder is rigidly connected to electrode end piece. The electrode is implanted by puncturing eyelid skin in inferoexterior one-third of orbit. Mandrin is removed after having done implantation. Closure member is attached to hollow metal electrode end piece. The closure member is manufactured from flexible sealing material. The electrode is sutured to skin. In piercing the closure member with syringe needle (insulin syringe), drug infusion is carried out. External electric stimulating unit of negative potential is attached to the electrode. Positive potential is connected to indifferent electrode positioned in patient hand. Electrophoresis is carried out with administered medicaments and direct optic nerve electric stimulation is applied. Rotating magnetic field is concurrently applied to implantation zone. Electric current pulsations are not to exceed comfort threshold and charge varies within the session within the 10 milliquoulomb limits, magnetic field intensity is not to be greater than 300 mTesla units. Session duration time is not longer than 20 min. The sessions are administered daily during 10-15 days.

EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of treatment.
