SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a solid, pressed medicinal formulation for sustained-release of nimesulide for oral administration. The formulation comprises from 5 to 95 wt.-% of nimesulide as an active agent, one or more substances controlling the release of agent and taken in the amount from 5 to 95 wt.-% and, if necessary, pharmaceutical vehicles taken in the amount up to 90 wt.-%. Nimesulide presents as a component of sustained-release fraction and as fraction with prolonged release. Also, invention describes a method for preparing the indicated medicinal formulation. Medicinal formulation of nimesulide of sustained-release is designated for a single daily intake that improves the intake convenience and controlling of schedule in treatment of chronic diseases, such as arthritis.
