FIELD: metallurgy of titanium subgroup refractory metals, possibly systems for processing chips of refractory metals and alloys.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of preliminarily degreasing chips in aqueous solution of washing composition with concentration 0.015 - 0.020 kg/l at 60 - 80є C for 5 -15 min; washing chips in hot water at temperature 40 - 60є C at least for 3 min; washing chips in cold water at least for 3 min; then drying and disintegrating chips; making briquettes and remelting briquettes to ingot; after remelting, processing ingot to chips and performing iodide refinement.

EFFECT: enhanced quality of metal due to lowered content of carbon.
