FIELD: general purpose building structures.

SUBSTANCE: membrane structure includes air-tight pressure resistant gas envelope and means to retain envelope means in filled state. Gas envelope has a number of spindle-shaped gussets made of air-tight membrane material. Adjoining gussets are connected one to another by edges thereof. Reinforcing ropes are secured to connected edge sections and extend along edges. Each edge projects outwards between two adjacent reinforcing ropes without increase in length of air-tight membrane material when envelope is filled with air.

EFFECT: reduced structure weight.
