FIELD: lighter-than-air flying vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: proposed balloon includes gas-containing envelope 1 and volume control mechanism which deform gas-containing envelope 1 in fully inflated state, thus changing the volume of gas-containing envelope 1. Gas-containing envelope 1 has spindle-shaped wedges 2 made from airtight film material; these wedges are interconnected on side edges; loading bands 3 secured to sections of joint of side edges run along side edges. Each wedge 2 projects outside between two adjacent loading bands 3 without elongating the airtight film material of wedge 2 when gas-containing envelope 1 is in fully inflated state. Curvature radius of projecting wedge 2 lies in direction crossing with two adjacent loading bands 3. Curvature radius is lesser than radius of gas-containing envelope 1.
EFFECT: easy control of flight altitude.
