METHOD OF TOPPING-UP AND PUMPING OF NONDRIED GAS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: production of hydrocarbons.

SUBSTANCE: method is designed for delivering nondried gases and gas mixtures by positive-displacement devices. Proposed method of topping-up and pumping of nondried gas by means of positive-displacement reciprocating-action device includes delivery of nondried gas into compression chamber. According to proposed method, hydraulic seal is formed in compression chamber by filling the chamber with liquid in volume not less than volume taken by charger. During each cycle of charger operation, volume of hydraulic seal is maintained by delivering liquid from outer source in amount ΔV_hs ≥ V_g+V_l where ΔV_hs is hydraulic seal replenishment volume: V_g is expected part of hydraulic seal volume filled with free gas; V_l is maximum expected volume of leaks and carry over of liquid from hydraulic seal during each cycle. Volume of compression chamber is not less than two columns taken by charge plus volume of replenishment of hydraulic seal. Mixture of nondried gas compressed to required pressure and let out of compression chamber and part of liquid from hydraulic seal are directed into gas-liquid separator from which separated liquid is directed into discharge device, and gas, to consumer. Mixture is let out of compression chamber through discharge valve whose passage area is chosen to provide passing of liquid without water hammer.

EFFECT: reduced capital outlays for delivery of gases owing to dispensing with equipment for its preparation, improved explosion and fire safety.
