FIELD: veterinary virology.

SUBSTANCE: the suggested method deals with histochemical immunoenzymatic assay by applying peroxidase conjugate based upon monoclonal antibodies of 010.2 clone. Antibodies of this clone are of specificity to antigenic determinants of polypeptides of 36-40 kD molecular weight in ovine and caprine variola viruses. Moreover, detection of antigens of ovine and caprine variola viruses takes place in cytoplasms of infected cells either of primary or passage cell culture of ovine origin. The suggested method is more simplified, sensitive, specific, it provides reliable detection of antigens of ovine and caprine variola viruses and differentiate them against disease agents with clinically similar picture. This method could be applied at research institutes and veterinary laboratories.
