FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method designed for measuring resistivity (transient resistance) of shielding coating on subsurface metal pipeline at any desired point without opening the pipeline for diagnosing and designing anticorrosive means includes connection of current supply between pipeline and ground, recording of pipe-to-ground and ground-to-ground potential bias and current; novelty is that base metering electrode is mounted above pipeline axis and peripheral electrodes, either side of pipeline; potential bias across peripheral electrodes and that between pipeline and base electrode are recorded to solve problem for ground field in cross-sectional area of pipeline; parameters of equipotential surface are determined, and current density of pipeline at given point as well as its transient resistance are found through half-sum of bias potential value across peripheral electrodes.
EFFECT: reduced labor consumption, enhanced reliability of measurement results.
