FIELD: geophysical determination of comparative characteristics of leakage of volatile gases to the surface in the territories of underground gas storages at inspection of use of oil and gas fields, as well as detection of the zones of activation of present motions of the Earth's crust of natural and man-activities origin.
SUBSTANCE: the geophysical parameter is measured in the selected points of the surface section under inspection, the atmospheric electric field strength is used as this parameter. Atmospheric electric field strength is preliminarily measured in the check point on the surface and simultaneously above it at the preset height, the values of standard parameter are determined. Measurements of the atmospheric electric field strength above the points of the surface section under inspection at the preset height are taken, and simultaneously in the check point on the surface. The presence of abnormal leakage of volatile gases to the surface is judged by execution of the following inequalities: or where - the atmospheric electric field strength above the point of the surface section under inspection measured at the preset height, V/m; - the atmospheric electric field strength in the check point on the surface measured simultaneously with V/m; - the error of determination of the values of the atmospheric electric field strength.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and operativeness of detection of the sections of abnormal leakage of volatile gases to the surface.
