SUBSTANCE: method comprises, within a local portion of the lithosphere of a seismically active zone, monitoring low-frequency microseismic vibrations detected by seismic stations; performing spectral-time analysis of the detected low-frequency microseismic vibrations; calculating a multiple regression coefficient; making a conclusion on an approaching seismic shock based on the decrease of the multiple regression coefficient and the decrease in the strength of the detected signal in a spectral window of 25-40 Hz.

EFFECT: high reliability when detecting an approaching seismic event.
