SUBSTANCE: method involves carrying out ultrasonic scanning in two-dimensional image and real time mode in prone position using front as support. Ultrasonic transducer is arranged on patient skin above inferior edge of occipital bone and in middle way between posterior surface of the mastoid process of occipital bone and spinal process of the first cervical vertebra in a way that scanning plane is drawn in parallel to longitudinal axis of the vertebral column.
EFFECT: high accuracy in determining position and shape of bridge over vertebral artery; objective visual evaluation of Kimmerle anomaly.
