FIELD: industrial inorganic synthesis.
SUBSTANCE: method is characterized by that interaction of sodium carbonate and cobalt chloride solutions is carried out in reaction space at 65-90оС with stirring by adding cobalt chloride solution to sodium carbonate solution to form cobalt carbonate precipitate, which is separated from mother liquor and washed with water. Precipitation of cobalt carbonate is performed at constant excess of sodium carbonate ensuring its residual post-reaction concentration at least 15 g/l, preferably 15-80 g/l. The two solutions can be introduced into reaction space in a jet mode. Washing with water is accomplished by 2 to 5 repulpings at solids-to-liquids ratio 1:(10-50) and temperature 65-95оС. Last wash water is used to perform first repulping and to prepare sodium carbonate solution.
EFFECT: reduced chlorine impurity by at least tenfold at low residual sodium in product, and increased degree of precipitation of cobalt by at least 5%.
