FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing fluorinated compounds of benzenedimethanol useful as the parent material or intermediate compound in manufacturing agricultural or medicinal substances. Method for preparing fluorinated compound of benzenedimethanol involves reduction of nitrile groups of fluorinated compound of benzenedinitrile of the formula (1):
(wherein X means chlorine or fluorine atom; m means a whole number from 0 to 3 under condition that when m means 2 or more then X can be similar or different) with hydrogen in the presence of metallic catalyst to yield fluorinated compound of xylylene diamine represented by the formula (2):
(wherein X and m have values given above) and conversion of aminomethyl groups of indicated fluorinated compound xylylene diamine to hydroxymethyl groups. This reaction is carried out by preparing a mixture containing fluorinated compound of xylylene diamine represented by the formula (2) and nitrite followed by addition of acid to this mixture and carrying out reaction followed by alkaline hydrolysis to yield fluorinated compound of benzenedimethanol represented by the formula (3):
(wherein X and m have values given above). Method provides preparing fluorinated compounds of benzenedimethanol by industrially profitable method.
EFFECT: improved preparing method.
