FIELD: optical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: zinc and cadmium halcogenide samples suitable for manufacturing optical parts transparent in a wide spectrum region are prepared from melt by recrystallization compressing of powders or by vapor-phase precipitation followed by heat treatment in tin melt. Prior to be thermally treated, surface of each sample is coated with a layer of viscose suspension possessing adhesion to material being coated and largely consisting of inert substance with, incorporated therein, particles of material being the main component of zinc or cadmium halcogenide being coated. Suspension layer is partially dried by immersion into tin. Advantageously, inert substance of viscose suspension utilized is clay-like substance, for example kaolin.
EFFECT: improved optical characteristics of blanks due to optimized heat treatment conditions, including diminished loss of material and safety of process.
