ACTUATING DEVICE OF GAS METER SHUTOFF VALVE Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: instrumentation engineering; domestic gas meters.

SUBSTANCE: proposed device has movable rod with permanent-magnet unit moving along central axis of double-coil solenoid system; hinged to top end of this rod is equalizing valve in the form of cylindrical sleeve secured thereon with lock washer. Upper rubber-covered surface of shutoff valve serves as equalizing valve seat. Lower surface of shutoff valve abutting against seat disposed in inlet union of gas meter is spring-loaded. Area of equalizing valve bottom may amounts to 5 - 10% of shutoff valve sectional area. Movable rod may carry impact washer at distance from lower surface of shutoff valve equal to 0.9 of maximal travel of rod between its extreme positions. Spring pressure is chosen between 0.2 and 0.4 of maximal force built up by permanent magnet assembly.

EFFECT: reduced mass and size of device; reduced power requirement of off-line power supply.
