FIELD: electrodeposition of metals, namely methods for controlling electrolysis process.
SUBSTANCE: method is designed for electrodeposition of metal on cathode in electrolytic cell having anode, cathode, electrolytic bath and main power source for applying electric potential between anode and cathode in order to provide electric current and metal deposition from anode to cathode. Method comprises steps of applying electric potential to electrolytic cell for deposition of metallic envelope on cathode (said envelope includes two practically equal sheets at each side of cathode mutually joined by means of breakable part at least in one edge; removing metal from cathode by turning respective sheets around breakable part; controlling direction and value of electric current in electrolytic cell, namely when electric current is near predetermined value or achieves said value and (or) its direction is changed, using additional power source that may be connected with cell in order to apply potential whose level is sufficient for keeping desired direction and predetermined value of electric current. It is possible to turn on additional power source continuously or only in those cases when electric current value and (or) its direction become lower than predetermined value. Invention provides simplified removal of deposit from cathode, enhanced quality of cathode deposit due to elimination of metal superposing in zone of breakable part of cathode deposit in the result of passing weak electric current when power supply of cell is interrupted.
EFFECT: enhanced quality of cathode deposit.
