FIELD: cathodes for refining or extracting metals by electrolysis, method for making such cathodes.
SUBSTANCE: cathode includes flat precipitation plate strictly secured along its upper edge to elongated suspended beam with formation of joint. Protection envelope is secured to precipitation plate by welding and it surrounds at least partially said suspended beam in such a way that in zone of said joint cavity is formed. Solidified corrosion resistant material fills said cavity and prevents penetration of corrosion-active matters to zone of joint.
EFFECT: improved reliability of contact between precipitation plate and suspended beam and therefore, enhanced efficiency of cathode.
