FIELD: protection of subscriber identity modules in communication networks.
SUBSTANCE: subscriber identity module (SIM) is primarily designed for use in GSM and user should identify himself by entering personal private code in SIM. Novelty is that application program controlling first use of SIM is saved in SIM memory. One of functions of this application program is informing SIM user that SIM is invoked for the first time. As an alternative, this application program is used to inform legal user of personal private codes required for further use of SIM in network or to give opportunity to user to self-specify such codes. Method is proposed for protecting PIN/PIC envelopes against visually indistinguishable opening so as to ensure that legal SIM user will be informed about its first use and also for developing relevant SIM.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability of protecting subscriber-identity module during its first use.
