FIELD: neutron engineering; fast neutron generating devices (neutron generators).
SUBSTANCE: proposed vacuum neutron tube has sealed off case 6, ion source and target 4 disposed along case. Field-emission ion source is made in the form of vacuum diode. Ion source has multipoint anode 2 and cathode 1 spaced apart through ≤1 m symmetrically to points of multipoint anode. Anode and cathode are coated with titanium film with occluded deuterium. This perforated cathode is placed at floating potential. Through holes of cathode are coaxial to points of multipoint anode. Magnetostatic field is applied to anode-to-target gap, its lines of force being parallel to ion motion path.
EFFECT: enhanced neutron yield and service life of tube.
