FIELD: roentgen engineering; pulsed tubes for equipment producing and using roentgen rays in medicine and technology.
SUBSTANCE: proposed X-ray tube has vacuum envelope, anode, and insulator-mounted high-voltage bushing with explosion-emissive cathode; the latter is made of material whose surface nanostructure is self-reproducible upon impact of high-voltage pulses of up to 60 kV in amplitude and 10 - 80 ns in length applied in train at repetition frequency up to 1 MHz. Soft-range radiation obtained in the process ensures high contrast of images when X-ray tube deals with objects of different optical density.
EFFECT: enhanced service life and operating stability; enlarged functional capabilities of tube.
