FIELD: medicine; medical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method involves sending low coherence optical radiation to an object under study via an optical system under concurrent transverse scanning by moving distal part of optical fiber end face over the transverse scanning surface. Optical path length aberration relative to transverse scanning is adjusted by supporting constant propagation time from the distal part of optical fiber end face to corresponding conjugated point in its image plane when moving distal part of optical fiber end face over said transverse scanning surface. To do it, the optical system has at least two lens components of positive optical force set approximately in confocal positions.
EFFECT: improved operation characteristics; obtained undistorted flat image of a flat object; improved transverse resolution properties.
