FIELD: optical means for investigating internal structure in medical diagnostics and process control.

SUBSTANCE: proposed protector designed for use in reflectometers, coherent tomography devices, and spectral image generating devices has hollow shell with distal end and open proximal end. Shell is designed to accommodate fiber-optic probe and its distal end is made in the form of at least partially transparent protector window. Inner surface of protector window is made for producing convertible adhesive contact with butt-end of fiber-optic probe distal end under action of axial pressure on probe disposed inside shell. Outer surface of protector window is made for producing convertible adhesive contact with object under investigation under action of axial pressure on fiber-optic probe disposed inside shell.

EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of optical coupling between distal end of probe and investigated object.
