FIELD: acceleration engineering; generation of nanosecond ion beams at high pulse repetition rate.

SUBSTANCE: proposed linear accelerator has induction system in the form of set of ferromagnetic cores wound with magnetizing turns. Potential and ground electrodes of single shaping line are attached to ends of magnetizing turns; ground electrodes of single shaping line are grounded through magnetizing turn of magnetic switch. Shaping line is charged with aid of magnetic pulse generator in the form of series of compression sections set up of capacitors and saturable reactors. Additional electrodes electrically connected to high-voltage lead of magnetic pulse generator and through magnetizing turn of additional saturable reactor, to ground are proposed to be introduced in single shaping line for operation in two-pulse mode. Additional channel of at least two compression sections is provided in magnetic pulse generator. Magnetic flux linkage ψ = WSΔB of saturable reactor in main-channel last compression section of magnetic pulse generator should be in this case lower than that of saturable reactor of last compression section in additional channel, where W is turn number of saturable reactor winding; S is steel sectional area of saturable reactor core; ΔB is peak-to-peak value of magnetic field and core steel flux density.

EFFECT: enhanced line-to-load energy transfer efficiency at high pulse repetition rate; enlarged service life of ion diode power supply.
