METHOD FOR OSTEOSYNTHESIS OF SHIN BONES IN DOMESTIC ANIMALS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, veterinary science.

SUBSTANCE: for performing the osteosynthesis of shin bones in cats and dogs of small breeds one should apply not less than one pair of needles through every fragment to locate their chiasm in the bone. One should apply one pair of needles at tibial tuberosity level One should apply one of the needles of this pair mediocranially at puncture-in point coming through fibular caput by coming nearer towards cranial edge, apply the second needle in mediocaudal direction at the angle of 80-90 deg. against the first one, apply the second pair of needles at the distance of not less than 0.5 cm against ankles, apply one needle of this pair in mediocranial direction, apply the second needle mediocaudally. Chiasm angle of the needles of the second pair corresponds to 70-90 deg. One should fix needles' ends in supporting units of perosseous apparatus. The method enables to exclude the lesion of articular capsules, nerves and vessels and provide a stable fixation by keeping the function of adjacent articulations.
