TWIST-RESISTANT ARMORED CABLE FOR GEOPHYSICAL INVESTIGATIONS OF WATER AREAS, GAS AND OIL WELLS Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC H01B7/18

Abstract RU 2285965 C2

FIELD: hardware and cable industry; stranded wires, ropes, and cables; development of oil and gas deposits, evaluation of fish reserves.

SUBSTANCE: proposed armored cable has one or more current conductors, insulation, cable sheath, and double-layer armor of zinc-plated steel wire. Disposed between armor layers is deformed polymeric interlayer that exactly follows relief of metal surface and functions to join strands together throughout entire area of their contact to form single bar by means of adhesive forces at boundary between polymeric interlayer surface and metal surfaces of internal and external strands of armor. Interlayer thickness amounts to 0.3 - 0.5 of diameter of armor external strand wire. Armor internal layer is formed by 8 to 15 stranded wires, 0.6 to 1.5 mm in diameter, and its external layer, of 14 to 25 wires, 0.6 to 1.5 mm in diameter. Such cable is characterized in enhanced resistance to in-service twisting and untwisting.

EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of investigating water areas, oil and gas wells.
