FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method two-stroke and four-stroke cylinders operate in gas-turbocharged internal combustion engine. Exhaust gases from working cylinders at exhaust stroke are directed to gas turbine of at least one turbocompressor by means of which full gas turbo-charging of two-stroke working cylinders at preset charging pressure is provided. Four-stroke working cylinders operate without charging. Ratio of number of two-stroke working cylinders to number of four-stroke working cylinders in said different-cylinder internal combustion engine is chosen from the following row of values: 1:4, 1:3, 1:2, 1:1, 3:2, 2:1, 3:1. Firing order of working cylinders is chosen as for four-stroke internal combustion engine determining design number of working cylinders by formula: where is design number of working cylinders of different-cylinder internal combustion engine in terms of four-stroke cycle of its operation. is number of two-stroke working cylinders in different-cylinder internal combustion engine; ides is number of four-stroke working cylinders in different cylinder internal combustion engine. If charging pressure for two-stroke working cylinders of internal combustion engine exceeds preset value, by-passing of compressed air (fresh mixture) from two-stroke working cylinders into four-stroke working cylinders is done.
EFFECT: improved performance characteristics of engine, reduced number of cylinders with preservation of smooth running.
