FIELD: agriculture, in particular, operative controlling of damage to roots during harvesting.
SUBSTANCE: method involves taking root sample; submerging root sample into liquid in measuring balloon; determining volume of submerged root sample by quantity of liquid replaced by said sample; pressurizing measuring balloon and creating excessive pressure therein; holding root sample in measuring balloon during time sufficient for relaxation under excessive pressure; calculating damage coefficient by reduced level of liquid in measuring balloon under the action of excessive pressure upon root sample; determining reduction in the level of liquid after decrease of excessive pressure in measuring balloon; calculating root damage coefficient by residual deformation thereof from formula.
EFFECT: increased precision in controlling of root damage by strict calculation of damage coefficient.
