METHOD OF DEFINITION OF AN OPERATIONAL SPACE SHAPE OF THE ALUMINUM ELECTROLYZER WITH AN OVERHEAD CURRENT LEAD Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2245399 C1

FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy; production of electrolytic aluminum.

SUBSTANCE: the invention falls into a nonferrous metallurgy, in particular, into production of electrolytic aluminum from a cryolite - aluminous melt and may be used at diagnostic study of the form of the working space of the aluminum electrolyzer. The invention allows to carry out an operative monitoring of the shape of the operational space of each separate electrolyzer to maintain stabilization of its power state. The method provides for measurement of parameters of a crust, levels of metal and an electrolyte by a dipped in the melt crowbar till its touch with a border of the crusts. The measurements are carried out (in one or several points of the perimeter of the electrolyzer. A vertical component of the crust is determined in a projection of the lower shearing of the gas-collecting bell, by positioning the crowbar closely to the gas-collecting bell, as a difference between the height of the melt, defined at measurement of the levels of the metal and the electrolyte, and the height of the melt above the crust. A horizontal component of the crust is defined as a difference between a projection of distance from a point of a contact of the crowbar with a border crusts on the heath up to the contact of the inclined crowbar with a sidewall of the bath of the electrolyzer and the space between the sidewall and the internal wall of the electrolyzer. Measurements of the vertical and horizontal components of the crust, the levels of the metal and the electrolyte are conducted simultaneously.

EFFECT: the invention allows to carry out an operative monitoring of the shape of the operational space of each separate electrolyzer to maintain stabilization of its power state.
